Even though I understand the way
I should deal with the rejection
I still break down every day
They reply to my submission

I am sorry your poetry does not
meet our needs at this time

Nice words for a harsh blow
When you need some validation
From just being useless cargo
To one considered an artisan

I am sorry your talent does not
meet our needs at this time

Have survived abuse from a hand
Have survived abuse from a voice
Why is this so hard to understand
From a callous person's choice

I am sorry your life does not
meet our needs at this time

I get these rejection notices all the time. It does hurt.
But I have my validation. Thousands of emails and questbook(s) entries.
People who are touched by what I write. Those are the ones that count.
I will save my money and publish my own work.
No one may want it, but I do.
